NWO Rubicon Grant for dr. Dietsje Jolles
How the child brain learns to count.
For two years, dr. Dietsje Jolles goes to the Stanford University School of Medicine (US), Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, to study how the child brain learns to count.
In primary school children learn basic computational skills. However, some children are facing computational problems. Dr. Dietsje Jolles wants to find out what happens in the brain when children learn to count and she wants to know whether there is a neurobiological cause for computational problems.
