Neuropsychological foundations of mindfulness meditation and effects on personality and self-representation.

Mindfulness is an attribute of consciousness that consists of being aware of and attentive to what is occurring in the present moment with a non-judgmental attitude of openness and receptivity. After a brief historical introduction of mindfulness meditation (MM), we will focus on the neuropsychological mechanisms through which this practice exerts its beneficial effects on health, such as through more effective attentional and emotional regulation. In the second and final part of the talk we will address the impact that MM has on practitioners' representations of the self and personality.
